Mark D. Grove, DVM

Dr. Grove is a general practitioner and the founder of Bellwood Animal Hospital since 1986. Dr. Grove is originally from Dixon, Illinois, and has cared for pets in the Rockford area for more than two decades. He attended Sauk Valley Community College and Eastern Illinois University, where he received his associate degree in Science in 1976 and his bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science in 1980. Dr. Grove completed his veterinary education at the University Of Illinois College Of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1982. His professional interests include orthopedics, dermatology and internal medicine.

Dr. Grove is a founding member and past president of Animal Emergency Clinic and currently serves as its secretary and treasurer. He is the president of the Greater Rockford Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Grove is also a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association.

When he's not at the hospital, Dr. Grove is an avid fisherman who enjoys canoeing and fishing in the rivers and lakes of northern Wisconsin. He is a devout fan of University of Illinois football and basketball and Chicago Cubs baseball. He and his wife Jill have three children-Rachel, Patrick and Tori-and Dr. Grove devotes much of his free time to them.

Beth Knutson, DVM

Dr. Beth Knutson has cared for pets as an associate veterinarian at Bellwood Animal Hospital since 2006. Originally from Wisconsin, Dr. Knutson attended the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse where she received her bachelor's degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology in 2002. She continued her education at the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. Dr. Knutson's professional interests include surgery and dermatology.

In November of 2009 Dr. Beth and her husband Travis were blessed with and wonderful baby boy named Christopher, who has now replaced many of Dr. Beth's leisure time activities. She enjoys swimming, fishing, camping, going to UW hockey games and watching Brewers and Packers games. She and her family share their home with a cat named Lucy.

Laura Lind, DVM

Dr. Laura Lind was hired by Bellwood Animal Hospital as an associate veterinarian in 2014. She attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and earned her bachelor's degree in Animal Sciences in 2005. Dr. Lind worked for 5 years in the veterinary field as a technician. She later returned to the University of Illinois where she earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2014. Dr. Lind's professional interests include ophthalmology and cytology.

Dr. Lind's hobbies include snowmobiling, snowboarding, fishing, and spending time running and hiking with her dogs. She has five four-legged children including two German shorthaired pointers, Deuce and Dee; two cats, Miester and Kiki; and a leopard gecko named Sid.

Katie Spoo, DVM

Associate Veterinarian Dr. Katie Spoo has provided high-quality care for pets since 2009. A native of Charleston, Illinois, Dr. Spoo attended Eastern Illinois University and received her bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences in 2004. She continued her veterinary education at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. Exotic pet care—especially for fish and reptiles—and surgery are among her many professional interests.

Dr. Spoo enjoys a number of hobbies in her spare time and can often be found geocaching, visiting zoos, roller blading and ice skating. She is a huge fan of Eastern Illinois Panther football and the Indianapolis Colts. She also enjoys writing and painting pottery, and has recently begun instruction in Taekwondo.

Her home is filled with pets and her animal companions include a pair of chihuahuas named Lydia and Newt, a cat named Eleanor Peabody, a bearded dragon named Pai, a king snake named Seamus, a ball python named Dash, a leopard gecko named Zizou, and a puffer fish named Mr. Kite.

Katy Korpan, DVM

Dr. Korpan grew up in McHenry and is excited to return to Northern Illinois. Dr. Korpan graduated from Carthage College in Wisconsin in 2007 where she received her bachelor's degree in Biology. Dr. Korpan attended the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2011. Following graduation, she pursued a year-long internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Carolina Veterinary-Specialists in Charlotte, North Carolina. Upon completion of her internship, Dr. Korpan practiced in Charlottesville and Williamsburg, Virginia.

Dr. Korpan has always had a love for animals and enjoys numerous aspects of veterinary medicine, but her special interests include internal medicine and dermatology.

In her spare time, Dr. Korpan enjoys hiking traveling, reading, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. She shares her home with her dog, Jameson. Dr. Korpan is thrilled to be back in the area and is looking forward to meeting you and your four-legged family members!
